We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to assist with the delivery of our two-and-a-half-year National Lottery Heritage Fund project ‘Ure Connected – Engaging People with Nature in the Lower Ure Valley’.

The project’s aim is to increase capacity for nature conservation and restoration on undermanaged Priority Habitats in the area while also increasing engagement with the local community.

In this role you will build strong links with the local community, raising the profile of the Lower Ure Conservation Trust and it’s work. You will actively engage with new audiences with a focus on school children, families, local community, people with mental health issues & other under-represented groups. You will organise and deliver an exciting events programme and an outdoor learning programme to connect people with nature at Nosterfield & the lower Ure Valley. You will create and recruit for new volunteer roles to assist with the running of the project engagement programme.

The role will also be responsible for the production of new reserve interpretation and improvements to social media output to encourage a wider diversity of visitors and a deeper understanding of the wildlife we support at Nosterfield.

A passion for nature conservation, public engagement and excellent communication, organisational and IT skills are essential. You must be able to take up weekend / flexible working hours when necessary.

 

ROLE DETAILS

Closing date: 04/08/2023

Interview date: 11/08/2023

Salary: £15,000 pa (£25,000 pa pro-rata)

Annual leave allowance: 4 weeks plus bank holidays (pro rata).

Commitment: 28-months part-time (3 days per week)

Start date: Early September 2023

Working hours: 22.5 hours per week. Working hours will be partly flexible, but some set days and weekend working will be required i.e. for meetings or when hosting events.

Location: Nosterfield Nature Reserve, Nosterfield Quarry, Bedale, North Yorkshire, DL8 2QZ. You will be expected to be on-site for the running of events, educational sessions and meetings, but otherwise, you will be required to work from your own home.

Essential: 18+, full UK driving license and access to personal transport.

Additional information: Mileage in addition to the normal journey from home to the reserve will be paid at a rate of 45p per mile.
