VOLUNTEERING
Well Wetlands project
The Well Wetlands project wouldn’t have been possible without our team of dedicated volunteers.
Their passion for restoring and creating new habitats at Nosterfield Nature Reserve is inspiring.
From propagating plants to improving pathways, our volunteer team has been involved with every part of the Well Wetlands project.
Committed to conservation
Our conservation volunteers come together weekly to help expand and maintain the precious habitats found at the reserve.
They also undertake a range of tasks to ensure everyone has a great experience when they visit Nosterfield. Our volunteers clear litter, maintain signage and keep the viewing screens and bird hides in tip-top shape.
Two of our professionally qualified volunteers, Pan and Laurie, run our plant nursery. They regularly train their fellow volunteers in everything from plant identification to wetland planting techniques.
Watch the video below to meet some of our volunteers and find out how our volunteer team is an integral part of the Well Wetlands project.
Volunteer training programme
Through this project, our volunteers have been able to expand their skill sets with a series of practical, hands-on training sessions.
This has included:
plant propagation, cultivation and planting
plant identification and seed collection
hedge laying and coppicing
brush cutter and pesticide training
Interested in joining our volunteer team?
We’d love to hear from you! Whether you’d like to do some wildlife surveying, plant propagation or try your hand at hedgelaying, we’ve got plenty of roles to get involved with at Nosterfield.
