For our April conservation club, we’ll be taking a closer look at the seeds grown in our Habitat Creation Nursery!
In the first part of the session, we’ll learn about how our plant nursery team have grown rare wetland plants and we’ll have the chance to try some fun practical activities.
After a drink and snack, we’ll be making sandbag planters. The planters you make will be placed in Flasks Lake to contribute to really important fen habitat!
Volunteering with us can help you work towards the Power of 10 Award; a fantastic local scheme that rewards young people for their volunteering efforts. Power of 10 passports are available to collect at the session. Find out more on the link below:
Making sandbag planters at the Habitat Creation Nursery
What you’ll need:
Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and that are suitable for the weather conditions.
Please wear sturdy footwear.
Young people aged 6-14 years will need to be supervised by an adult throughout the session. Young people aged 14-18 can attend the session without adult supervision.
Where to meet:
Please meet at the Quarry Visitor Centre at 10am
To find the visitor centre, turn right off the B6267, just before you enter the village of Nosterfield as you head in the direction of Masham. It has a stone 'Nosterfield Quarry' sign marking the turning. It is an immediate left turn into the car park
