Family Nature Walk

Join us for a guided 2 mile walk to find out more about Nosterfield Nature Reserve and the wildlife you can spot here. From the Quarry visitor’s centre and car park, we will explore the woodland and causeway, making our way up to the reedbed hide. Suitable for children aged 6+

How many different birds can you record?

Can you recognise any bird songs or calls?

Can you identify any dragonflies or butterflies along the way?

Paths are mostly flat, with a slope at either end of the causeway footpath. Some areas of footpath are uneven underfoot.

What you will need

  • Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, including a hat and suncream in hot weather and waterproofs if rain is forecast

  • Please drink drinks and snacks

  • Bring binoculars if you have them please!

Where to meet

Quarry visitor centre car park, (Nosterfield Quarry, Flask Lane)

To find the visitor centre, turn right off the B6267, just before you enter the village of Nosterfield as you head in the direction of Masham. It has a stone 'Nosterfield Quarry' sign marking the turning. It is an immediate left turn into the car park

The postcode doesn't take you to the car park itself; use What3Words: deliver.chuck.reject for the exact location on a map
