LUCT Open Morning

Gain an insight into the work of our volunteer team, find out how species are monitored on site and take a look around the wetlands nursery, where some 75,000 plants have been propagated for groundbreaking fen creation work.

Itinerary

9am: Meet at the quarry car park

From here, we will walk to the well Wetlands plant nursery (around a 10 minute walk)

We'll start off with moth trapping followed by bird ringing and then have a tour of the fen creation area and Well Wetlands Plant Nursery.

Refreshments will be provided during the morning and you are welcome to explore the Quarry site and Nosterfield Nature Reserve at your leisure in the afternoon.

Parking and where to meet:

Parking is available at Nosterfield Quarry car park

Please use What3Words: deliver.chuck.reject for the exact location on a map or see the directions below:

To find the visitor centre, turn right off the B6267, just before you enter the village of Nosterfield as you head in the direction of Masham. It has a stone 'Nosterfield Quarry' sign marking the turning. It is then an immediate left turn into the car park.

What you will need:

We will be outdoors for the morning, so please wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Bring a waterproof and sturdy footwear, along with a hat and suncream if warm weather is forecast. Thank you.

If you have binoculars, please bring them

Please note: moth trapping and bird ringing are weather dependent. We will be in touch via email the day before the event if we need to cancel due to adverse weather conditions.

Please contact amy.horton@luct.org.uk or call 07568960971 if you have any questions about the open morning
