Join us for our June conservation club, where we will be finding out more about how butterfly species are recorded at Nosterfield Nature Reserve. We will walk approximately 1.5 miles around Nosterfield Quarry on woodland paths that are mostly flat as we look out for butterflies.
Our conservation club is now open for young people aged 6-18. Children aged 6-14 years will need to be accompanied by an adult and young people aged 14-18 can attend without an adult accompanying them if they wish.
What will we be doing?
On 14th June from 10am - 1pm, we'll be finding out about how moths and butterflies are recorded and you'll be able to join in and help us to record species.
We work with Ripon Power of 10, so as well as finding out more about nature and conservation, you can also work towards an award for your work as a young volunteer with us.
What you will need:
Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather conditions, including sun-cream and a hat in hot weather and waterproofs if rain is forecast.
Bring plenty to drink; biscuits will be provided for the mid-morning break.
We will provide all tools and equipment needed.
Parking and where to meet:
Parking is available at Nosterfield Quarry car park, Flask Lane, DL8 2QZ
The postcode doesn't take you to the car park itself; use What3Words: deliver.chuck.reject for the exact location on a map or see the directions below
To find the visitor centre, turn right off the B6267, just before you enter the village of Nosterfield as you head in the direction of Masham. It has a stone 'Nosterfield Quarry' sign marking the turning. It is then an immediate left turn into the car park.
Activities are weather dependent and may need to change if conditions are not suitable on the day
