Blow away that post-Christmas stuffing!

Yes of course you will have eaten and drank too much.   Could even have led to a twinge of
guilt.   Well, the Lower Ure Conservation Trust has the perfect antidote to those Christmas and New Year excesses.......a bracing walk around the reserve.

From our car park just off the B6267 near Nosterfield village you can access three hides overlooking  our main  and north lakes, take in a two and a half mile walk on well-maintained hardcore tracks and be blown away by the sights and sounds of around 2,000 birds enjoying the wet grassland and feeding that the reserve offers.   There are ducks and wading birds from Scandinavia and the Baltic, geese from the Arctic tundra and
perhaps a magnificent aerial display by a hungry peregrine.

For the more adventurous there is footpath access across open fields to another part of our reserve  at the quarry – with two more lakes and a reedbed to enjoy.   In total 100 hectares of some of the best wildlife habitat in Yorkshire.

At our reedbed, in a newly renovated screen which will keep you dry from a wintry squall, wait a while and with any luck watch an otter, which has become a frequent visitor in recent weeks.

It will cost you nothing, the whole experience is completely free.  (You won't be able to say that about much else at this time of the year!) The perfect place to enjoy some peace, take in the fresh air and get close to nature.

Look forward to seeing you!
