For the next community work day we’ll be making fish refuges from the waste cuttings created by willow coppicing and scrub clearance.
Once they’re made, we’ll install them in one of the lakes at the quarry site. The refuges create areas where small fish can thrive, increasing the abundance of larger fish which could then feed bittern or osprey!
Making the waste material into these refuges also decreases the amount of material we have to burn, reducing carbon emissions.
