Paid internship opportunities

We’re currently looking for two enthusiastic candidates to join us in Practical Conservation Summer Placements - Paid Internships roles.

The successful candidates will assist with the delivery of our Green Recovery Challenge Fund project – Restoring the Swale & Ure Washlands. The project aims to create and restore priority wetland habitats, particularly species-rich reedbed and fen for the benefit of wildlife.

Based primarily at Nosterfield Nature Reserve, you will carry out a variety of habitat management tasks, undertake ecological surveys and maintain reserve infrastructure and hides. You will work alongside and lead volunteers, assist with community events and contribute to our online presence.

This is an ideal position for those looking to start a career in conservation. You will gain experience of the practical techniques used in the creation and maintenance of valuable habitats. You will also be given training and certified qualifications in the use of machinery and equipment.

A passion for nature conservation and a strong desire to learn are essential, along with good communication, organisational and IT skills. You must also have a driving license and be able to take up weekend / flexible working hours at particular times of year.

The Green Recovery Challenge Fund is funded by DEFRA and is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
