Exploring the River Swale
The River Swale begins high above Richmond, in the Dales, where Birkdale Beck and the Great Steddale Beck meet. Rushing over several waterfalls, through Leyburn and Richmond, the Swale flows south through the Vale of Mowbray. Picking up tributaries from the Dales in the west and the Howardian Hills, in the east, it flows into the River Ure at Myton-on-Swale, out of Boroughbridge.
